Melissa Dettlinger was born in Louisville, KY and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at the University of Louisville in 1998. At this time digital photography was at it’s beginning stages of development. She decided to continue her education and received her Master of Fine Arts in Cinema and Photography specializing in digital imaging at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2002. From Illinois, she moved out to Aspen, Colorado and opened up her own fine art printing and photography business. While in Colorado, she also worked with various artists and teachers at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center as the studio manager of the photography department. It was here, that she discovered her love of teaching digital photography. Since 2003, Melissa has been teaching Photography and Photoshop classes in workshop environments and at the college level. Melissa is now working as an adjunct faculty member for Ivy Tech Community College teaching Fundamentals of Imaging, Electronic Imaging, Digital Photography and Studio Photography classes.
