Ivy Tech Southern Indiana and the Pat Harrison Fine Arts + Design Gallery are proud to announce the call for entries of Visual Communications student artwork for the 2020 Ivy Tech Juried Competition.
Each semester, Ivy Tech’s Visual Communication Department invites professional creatives to critique student work. Jurors then select those pieces they feel demonstrate the best work.
This year’s juried competition will be a submission-only competition. Faculty members and invited professionals will be voting on your created work from the last year. Participation is required for all VISC students in the program. Due to the pandemic, we will not have an in-person juried competition. We hope to have our student juried gallery show(s) when the gallery can be reopened safely after the pandemic is over. If your piece wins, you will be asked to fill out a print submission form. Projects must be approved by the instructor before submission. If you took VISC 115 Intro to Computer Graphics or VISC 114 Graphic Design I with Susan Mackowiak before her retirement, you will need to get approval from Yvonne, Candace, or Melissa.
We will be taking submissions for the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 semesters. You can submit up to 5 pieces from Spring and Summer of 2020, and 4 pieces from Fall 2020. Results may take a little bit to post and will most likely not be available until the end of January 2021. Melissa and Cassie will need some time to put together the submissions on voting forms for the judges and then the jurors will need ample time to go through each semester’s entries.
We are asking that entries be submitted by December 11th, 2020 via the Jury Submission Form, which can be accessed at the link below or through the Student Portal. Projects that are due the last week of this semester can be submitted once the project has been approved. Please note that you can only view the jury submission google form if you are signed into your Ivy Tech email address. If you are signed into your personal Gmail account, the form will give you an error.

Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all Visual Communications students from the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 semesters. Work must be approved by your instructor to be submitted to the Jury Competition.
Media Accepted: All media must be submitted digitally, via the Jury Submission Form. Media can be submitted as a JPG, PNG, or MP4. (Winners will be contacted after the competition to fill out a print request form for work that will be printed and hung in the gallery.)
